Mission
To maintain a quality program of education and nurture for children while GPC develops long-term plan for staffing in area of children’s ministry. Responsibilities
In consultation with the Associate Pastor for Nurture and the Children’s Transition Team, the INTERIM Director of Children’s Ministries will:Leadership Development
- Recruit teachers and volunteers for the Fall 2012 Sunday School Program
- Design a scaled-down curriculum for Summer 2012 Sunday School Program
- Resource current teachers with tools for effective teaching
- Supervise paid Nursery care provider.
- Assist VBS coordinator as needed.
Program Development
- Coordinate and oversee Sunday morning children’s program for ages 3 – 11.
- Be present each Sunday morning to directly oversee program and assist with special needs.
- Oversee provision of care for infants and toddlers in Nursery.
Administrative Functions
- Maintain budget for the children’s program.
- Coordinate purchasing of supplies related to the Faithweaver curriculum.
- Maintain attendance records for Sunday morning program.
Relationship and Accountability
The INTERIM Director of Children’s Ministries reports directly to the Associate Pastor for Nurture and the Children’s Transition Team. He/She also maintains a working relationship with the Senior Pastor, the Nurture Committee, and the congregation. The Director will attend weekly staff meetings.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution preferred; strong interpersonal and organizational skills; mature Christian faith; teaching/administrative experience in Christian Education helpful.
