A Few Medium-Sized Thoughts about Some Teeny-Tiny Things – by MaryAnn McKibben Dana

The clipping is long gone, but I read several months ago in the Washington Post about a new trend in upscale dining in New York City-”pop-up” restaurants, with five or six tables, total-and in some cases, one large table where the entire evening’s clientele sits together to dine. Chefs are opening these eateries as a way of downsizing their administrative workload and living out their vocation in a more personal way.

In one of my community responsibilities, I serve on the Board of Directors of the George Washington University Hospital. At a recent meeting, the Medical Director explained a new system of peer review for doctors. Twice a year, the hospital is required to ask peers to review the performance of each physician. If these reviews reveal problems, the Hospital is required to address them.

One of the learning opportunities to come my way at school this year has been participating in the Gordon- Conwell Theological Seminary (GCTS) Partnership Program. The Partnership Program encourages students to develop ministry support teams to support students with prayer, fellowship, and financial support. The financial support comes in the form of reduced tuition for those fortunate enough to have ministry support teams.
